Memorial Day Picnic

Random Pix

First bath, first sunglasses, and sleeping with Daddy, as always!

It worked!

It was suggested that I delete some pictures from my account in order to make room for more (thanks, Dawn!) and it worked! This is from Sunday in her church outfit. It was her first Sunday morning church attendance. She was asleep practically the whole time, squeaked once, and Josh wanted her out of the sanctuary. The other four infants were making lots of noise and no one was complaining! Ugh. Anyway, the jumper/bonnet combo is from Grandma C. The booties were hand-knitted by my great aunt Toni.

LIMIT REACHED

It seems that I have reached my photo upload limit. I either have to pay or create a new email address and blog. Ugh. I guess I'll be creating a new email address. My next post will have the new info...WHATEVER (lo que sea).

It's been a great 3 years!

Our Daughter...

Welcome to the world, L-E-K!!! (I have to come up with a clever nickname for anonymity, too!) You blessed us with your presence on May 7, 2009 (Odd Day, and National Day of Prayer (of which you are an answer)) weighing in at 8 pounds and 1.6 ounces. You were 20 inches long and had lots of dark hair like your "Mami" (Mommy in Spanish, pronounced exactly the same as in English) did! It was a long week in and out of the hospital, but it was worth it all just to have you :) We can't wait to see what the future has in store for our family. WE LOVE YOU!

Nosey

It's not the best ultrasound still ever, but I'll take it! This is my baby girl's nose :) Only a few more days and we'll get to see the rest of her...

FULL-TERM!

So, technically, Elli is now full-term. However, I have a feeling she's going to bake for a few more weeks just to be sure. I had my 36 week appointment yesterday, and it was somewhat eventful. I am 1 cm. dilated (I know it's not much, but I'm still excited!!!). Also, I asked about Dr. Ngozi's policy about being late. Her rule of thumb is 40 weeks plus 5 days. This would mean a May 9th delivery...which is my goal...at least one day before Mother's Day. However, she didn't seem too thrilled about inducing on a Saturday (or even a Friday), so she mentioned a few possibilities: Thursday (the 7th), Monday (the 11th), or maybe even Wednesday (the 6th)!!!! Now, I haven't forgotten the fact that she could come on her own...but I'm taking all possibilities into consideration :)

I've had to scan a few old pix recently for a scrapbook...and I haven't posted for a while...and I feel like I need to because my sister in law has inspired me to update my blog...so here is a quick view of my childhood.  Enjoy!

Shower? ...More like down-pour!!!

Saturday was the big day...my baby shower :)  I knew it was going to be big, but I was overwhelmed.  There were so many people, family and friends...the decorations and favors were many and cute....the games were fun (especially Sabrina's)...and, oh, the gifts!  Elli and I are a spoiled pair!  Thank you all for an amazing party!!!

I have no idea what's going on...

Please disregard my previous post.  It turns out that the results from my 3 hour fasting glucose tolerance test were low (which is what the receptionist at my OB's office told me).  What she failed to mention is that they were probably too low.  Did I receive a call from the OB or her nurse?  No, why would they do that?  The result:  A trip to the emergency room!  Originally, I thought I was having a heart attack (pains in my chest, nausea, fever, cold sweat, all-over uncomfortable feeling).  So, I called the maternity ward.  The nurse told me that it is probably a cardiac problem brought on by the pregnancy, and to go to the ER.  Josh took me in and they hooked me up to the heart monitor for a while...but no one believed me that it was my heart.  That's probably because it wasn't...well, not technically.  Apparently, my blood sugar is getting too low after fasting all night long.  Then, when I eat in the morning, my body has to work really hard (this is where the heart comes in) to regulate my blood sugar.  That's why I've been feeling "weird" every morning about an hour and 15 minutes after eating breakfast!  I just happened to fast for longer than normal from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning and have a more sugary breakfast than I usually do.  It hit me like a ton of bricks.  I have my next appointment on Thursday.  Until then, I will be making sure I eat something every few hours and trying to maintain a good blood sugar level.  Can anyone say: GESTATIONAL DIABETES???  (Plus, as an added bonus, the ER doc told me that this is a sign that I will probably be diabetic in 20 years).  Yippee!

Lookin' good!

After 16 hours of fasting and 4 needle holes, my blood sugar levels look "pretty low" according to the receptionist at Onukogu's office.  Let's hope she's right...actually, I'm counting on it.  Next appt.: 2/26.

And it begins...

Besides the little bit of morning sickness and some sinus issues, all has been well.  That's over...

The third trimester brought with it bad blood and more hormones!!!  My 28 week appointment was the most eventful so far.  I found out that I'm anemic, my glucose tolerance is abnormal, and I am RH negative (already knew that).  However, each of those results means I have to take iron (expeinsive pharmacy iron),  go through another fasting glucose screening test (for three hours on my day off at 6:45 AM), and get a very painful shot in my arm (just in case).  The raging hormones are causing me to have more rage than ever.  Hopefully my blood pressure won't be the next to go bad.  It was perfect yesterday, but my weight...that's another story.  I gained 6.5 lbs. in 2 weeks, and that means I have hit the 20 lb. mark!!!  I was hoping that wouldn't happen quite yet.  Looks like she's gonna be a big girl.

Inconvenient Debt

I love Glen Beck...especially when he makes fun of Al Gore.
